Baby bumps

Well, the countdown is on! It’s the time when our mares are starting to show that they are carrying next year’s crop of foals. They are enjoying a few months of peaceful time, eating more, napping and looking beautiful while I work on a list of foal names and breeding plans.

Avery should be first up for the foaling stall, she is in foal to Copernicus WF who also recently won the NAAST with a standout score. I’ll need a “C” name for this foal.

Abbey and Daisy are BOTH in foal to Spot Cash. He was purchased by Spruce Meadows for their breeding program and has been actively competing, so wasn’t as accessible for breeding. 2 years in a row I narrowly missed out on winning a breeding service during the Canadian Hanoverian Club auctions, so when I heard he was going to stand at Dreamscape I JUMPED at the opportunity to book to him for Daisy. I had not planned for 2 Spot Cash foals, but as fate would have it the stallion I had booked for Abbey was not able to be collected the day she was ready so it was hard not to be greedy and try for 2 flashy jumper babies… who doesn’t like bling and boing?

He’s talented, has a packed pedigree and such unusual markings. Definitely something to look forward to!
